Ken & June Melcher moved to St. Paul, Oregon in 1957 from Nebraska. They had 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. Ken began farming hazelnuts, along with several types of berries on his 100 acre farm. In the fall of 1984, Ken died suddenly; his second youngest son, Dennis, took over the farming operations to maintain the family farm. In 2000, Dennis and his wife Sylvia purchased a small hazelnut roasting company and named it after Dennis’s Parents, Ken & June.
Ken & June’s Hazelnuts began as a small business designed to roast, salt, and chocolate coat hazelnuts and package them in ready to eat bags for local hazelnuts lovers to enjoy. 20 years later the company has grown to a local brand name for the Oregon hazelnut industry, selling their packaged hazelnuts to local grocery stores, specialty gift shops, & Wineries throughout the Pacific Northwest region. Their 3 daughters, Jenny, Julie and Jamie now work for the family, and their story continues as a 3rd generation family operated business.

We roast year round in small batches to keep our product crisp, fresh, and delicious. We offer In the shell, raw, dry roasted, & roasted/salted hazelnuts along with 6 different varieties of chocolate coated hazelnuts.
